“Plain language” debate with participation of PSNC

The debate on the Polish language will be held on Saturday, February 19 at 6:30 p.m., organized by the Poznan City Hall and the Polish Language Council at the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences as part of the International Mother Language Day. The event will be broadcast by WTK television and will be available via the online platform implemented by PSNC. Tomasz Parkoła, Manager of the Digital Libraries Department at PSNC will also take part in the discussion.

Saturday’s debate will have an interdisciplinary character and its participants will discuss how we can “simplify” the language of official texts or school textbooks to make them more accessible and better understood by the general public. This approach is closely related to the introduction of plain language at the Poznan City Hall as part of the Smart City concept.

The first part of the debate will be attended by:

-Michał Łakomski, Director of the Digitization and Cybersecurity Office of the Poznan City Hall,
-prof. Jarosław Liberek and dr hab. Karolina Ruta-Korytowska, linguists from the University of Adam Mickiewicz,
-Tomasz Parkoła, Manager of the Digital Libraries Department at the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center.

The PSNC New Media Department managed by Maciej Głowiak (PSNC) in cooperation with Marcin Dąbrowski (PSNC) has prepared the https://video.poznan.pl/ online platform which will be used to broadcast this event to the Internet.

We warmly invite you to participate in this interesting debate – Saturday, February 19 at 6:30 p.m.
