INSENSION project at VOICE4PIMD workshop

American University of Notre Dame and PSNC invite you for a two-day long workshop (24-25 October 2024) as a part of the Voice4PIMD initiative, focused on the use of artificial intelligence in communication with people with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities (PIMD).

The goal of the VOICE4PIMD initiative is to develop an advanced non-symbolic communication system which is based on AI. The system’s main purpose will be bridging the gap in communication with PIMD individuals.

During the workshop a group of experts from around the world will delve into topics related to nonverbal communication and language development, biomarkers of cognitive abilities in PIMD, and the communication challenges faced by people with PIMD. They will also explore data management and privacy protection, commercialization and scaling of AI-based systems, as well as collaboration with caregivers, caregiver training, and technological innovations along with their practical application.

The workshop will feature presentations of two PSNC specialists: Waldemar Jęśko (New User Interfaces Department) will discuss recognition of vocalizations of PIMD individuals, using machine learning algorithms, and Michał Kosiedowski (Future Internet Services Department) will present the INSENSION project (Personalized ICT platform for people with PIMD), which provides a system supporting interaction of individuals with profound and/or multiple learning difficulties.
