POZITIVE.TECH 2024 is an event that brings together IT specialists, digital transformation experts and technology enthusiasts. They meet to exchange knowledge, inspirations and shape the future. This year’s edition took place at CK Zamek in the very heart of Poznań, between 2 and 6 December 2024. One of the participants of this event was a PSNC quantum expert Dr Krzysztof Kurowski.
This edition of POZITIVE.TECH was filled with workshops, panel discussions, networking sessions and presentations by industry leaders. The conference culminated with a debate entitled “The Future of the IT Industry – Opportunities and Challenges” with active participation from Dr Kurowski, who highlighted the significance of supercomputers and cloud computing in accelerating the development of AI and quantum technologies.
– Quantum communication is gaining its momentum, and we can confidently say that we are the leader in implementing these technologies. Our headquarters in Poznań already house two optical quantum computers, and we are preparing to install a third one which is based on ion traps. That paints a new and very interesting perspective for the development of quantum technology applications in various fields, such as cybersecurity, medicine and supporting artificial intelligence – said Dr Krzysztof Kurowski during the panel, emphasizing the role of supercomputing and networking centers in sharing infrastructure.
Active debate participants had an opportunity to win a tour of PSNC’s laboratories as a part of the quantum pathway.

PCSS Joins the OPERAS Consortium

A brand new TOP500 list revealing the fastest supercomputers in the world was released during this year’s Supercomputing in Atlanta (17–22.11.2024). The list includes computing systems from PRACE-LAB and PRACE-LAB2 projects, which are key Polish high efficiency computing infrastructures. These two TOP500 entries confirm Poland’s strong position on the global arena of computing development.

CLAW Meeting: Is the Queen Going to Abdicate?

That was the most important question of this year’s Crisis Management Workshop (CLAW) organized annually for the GÉANT community, which after several editions was moved from Poznań to Barcelona. For two days (3 and 4 December 2024) the participants took part in practical exercises to resolve a crisis in a fictional European country called Guilder. The multimedia materials used during the workshops were prepared by the usual PSNC team.
