The Chamber of Memory in Turew

On 5 December 2024, “Organic Workers from Turew. A Virtual Exhibition of Memorabilia Related to the Cradle of Organic Work (Stage 1) – The Chamber of Memory” was officially opened in the Palace of Turew near the city of Kościan in Wielkopolska (42 kilometers south of Poznań). This event marked the completion of the project entitled “Virtual Heritage of the Organic Work Trail: Digitization and Exhibition of Artifacts and the Turew Archive (Stage 1)” implemented by the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry PAS together with PSNC, and co-financed by the Wielkopolska Region Authorities as a part of the program “Organic Work – The Heritage of Wielkopolska”.

The goal of the project was to promote the achievements of individuals involved in creating the idea of organic work and shaping the ethos of the Wielkopolska region, as well as to digitize archival resources related to the figures of organic workers associated with the Palace of Turew. The archival materials were digitized and processed by the PSNC team led by Arkadiusz Margraf from the Digital Libraries and Knowledge Platforms Department in close collaboration with Sylwia Sobczyk from the IBCH PAS Turew Team. The digitized materials are available both in RCIN – the Digital Repository of Scientific Institutes (https://rcin.org.pl/dlibra/collectiondescription/668) and also the Palace itself, where one can access them on an electronic totem.

Opening of “The Chamber of Memory” featured a concert by Kacper Kolasiński, who specializes in playing the marimba and vibraphone. Music and animations designed especially for this event were the collaborative work of PSNC’s New Media Department.

On 9 December, Turew also hosted the 4th Organic Work Trail Forum, organized by the General Dąbrowski Palace in Winna Góra (the Trail’s coordinator) and the Kościan Commune. This meeting was an occasion to present a summary of the passing year and to discuss plans for 2025. Participants had a chance to take a tour of the Palace and enjoy the virtual exhibition.
