“Development of an Innovative Tool to Support Diagnostics and Automatic Description of Radiological Images Using Artificial Intelligence Tools” is the full name of the project known simply as “Next Data AI”. The project is carried out by PSNC in cooperation with Centrum Zdrowia La Vie (La Vie Health Center) and its main goal is to conduct research and development work necessary to develop a tool that will support radiological diagnostics and automate the description of radiological examinations based on artificial intelligence mechanisms.
A medical database in the form of a graph will be created within the project and it will enable the annotation of radiological images with the use of a tree of options. A research tool allowing users to collect a training set will be developed. It is going to be an application utilizing an already established database. Creation of a dedicated environment based on MLOps tools will allow testing the effectiveness of machine learning algorithms for computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging of the human chest area and magnetic resonance imaging of the head. The results of those tests will lead to modifications in the annotation method to obtain an algorithm that is optimal in terms of efficiency, generating a description of the radiological image, with the least time-consuming radiologist workload.
The target group that will benefit from the research results will be radiologists who have to prepare descriptions of patients’ examinations.
The total value of the project is 4 87 580,88 PLN, and the amount of the contribution from European Funds is PLN 4 155 359,25 PLN.
