CLAW Meeting: Is the Queen Going to Abdicate?

CLAW Meeting: Is the Queen Going to Abdicate?

That was the most important question of this year’s Crisis Management Workshop (CLAW) organized annually for the GÉANT community, which after several editions was moved from Poznań to Barcelona. For two days (3 and 4 December 2024) the participants took part in practical exercises to resolve a crisis in a fictional European country called Guilder. The multimedia materials used during the workshops were prepared by the usual PSNC team.

For this year’s CLAW PSNC specialists prepared seven short ‘breaking news’ bits and a “live” press conference broadcast from the royal palace – all integrated within the framework of the fictional GBN television. That set the stage for representatives of individual European NRENs to practice solving potential threats. Participants implemented pre-prepared scenarios for managing unpredictable situations. The scenarios were dedicated to communication specialists, network engineers, directors of NRENs and institutions cooperating with scientific networks.

Eventually the crisis was resolved thanks to the combined efforts of GuilderEN managers, the IT support team at the hospital where the fictional queen was treated, as well as the communication and IT teams responsible for maintaining the research network.

Soon we will find out where the CLAW 2025 will be held.
