The past year 2023 has brought many interesting solutions in the field of digital libraries and the aggregation of digital cultural heritage data. In cooperation with the Silesian Library and the University of Wrocław the following activities were carried out: the development of the DInGO software package, which resulted in the first implementations of the seventh generation of the dLibra system, characterised by a new layout of the user interface, a new method of searching resources made available in the system and their presentation taking into account the occurrence of search terms in the content of the object.
The DInGO software package, whose name is an acronym of the phrases Digitize and Go, is a set of tools associated with the digital humanities since the second half of the 1990s. One of the best-known solutions in the DInGO package is the dLibra system, which is used to build digital libraries and content repositories. Work on the seventh generation of the system was completed in 2023.
The modernisation of the Silesian Digital Library was completed on 31 May 2023, and the work on the dLibra system, commissioned by the Silesian Library in Katowice, resulted in the first release of the seventh generation of the system, which is charcterised by a new layout of the user interface, a changed method of searching resources made available in the system and their presentation taking into account the occurrence of search terms in the content of the object.
The activities carried out for the University of Wrocław, apart from updating the dLibra system and extending it with dedicated functionalities, also included the development of DigiLab (Aggregator of Scientific Output), a tool supporting the management, processing and publication of the University of Wrocław’s archival scientific output, and TransLab, a tool enabling the creation of digital texts from scans, the results of which can be used to prepare digital objects in such standards as hOCR, TEI, PDF and eBook. TransLab, a new version of the WLT (Virtual Transcription Laboratory) system, allows users to transcribe objects added to the site from their own devices or imported from digital libraries (also using the IIIF standard).
