The EUDAT conference 2024 organised in Karlsruhe (Germany) on 3-5 December 2024 is an international forum on and about DATA. Topics such as EOSC, the Data Spaces, the connection with HPC and handling sensitive data were tackled in dedicated sessions that provide a view of developments on a European level.
One of the sessions “EOSC advancements supporting FAIR research data lifecycle” as a panel discussion took into account the necessity to support EOSC from the country level. This session presented an overview of the recent developments in EOSC and the EOSC Federation. This session presented an overview of the recent developments in EOSC and the EOSC Federation.
Norbert Meyer from PSNC, the contractor of the European Commission to develop and maintain EOSC EU NODE, presented the aims and functionality of the first European EOSC NODE, focusing on the information on how to add new services (onboarding services) and how to increase the federation by adding new national nodes. At this presentation were provided information about the following:
- core and managed services of EOSC EU NODE,
- operations, governance, policy and compliance,
- added engagement values with EOSC-A, EOSC-related projects and the currently deployed EOSC EU NODE.
Other presentations introduced:
- FAIRCORE4EOSC – new FAIR services for EOSC,
- FAIR-IMPACT,
- EOSC Core Innovation Sandbox: A Hub for Testing and Validation,
- EOSC Federation Handbook.
Final discussions between the panellists and the session audience covered the most important topics the EOSC community is working on, e.g.
- the plan to extend the EU node,
- evolution of FAIR in EOSC,
- what kinds of federated capability should the EOSC federation implement to support the Web of FAIR Data,
- findability in the federation,
- accessibility in the federation,
- interoperability in the federation.
