PSNC at the GRAPHIA Kick-off Meeting in Brussels

On 22 January 2025 the GRAPHIA project was kicked off in Brussels. This international meeting lasted for two days and gathered researchers and specialists who are interested in SSH data. AgrifoodTEF at AGRO-PREMIERY International Agricultural Fair in Poznań

The AGRO-PREMIERY International Agricultural Fair is the biggest agricultural event in Poland and it kicks off in Poznań on 23 January 2025. For two days the event is going to focus mainly on AGRICULTURE 5.0. Participants of the fair will have a chance to witness a presentation of the agrifoodTEF project, which is realized with heavy participation from PSNC.

LUMEN – Operating Freely Across a Variety of Scientific Fields

Its full name is Linked User-driven Multidisciplinary Exploration Network, but you can simply call it LUMEN. Despite this friendly and simple moniker, LUMEN is actually a pioneering phenomenon which is very likely to turn cross-domain collaboration around and make a research journey across various scientific fields, like Mathematics, Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH), Earth System sciences, and Molecular Dynamics a joyride! Two PSNC ambassadors – Tomasz Parkoła and Paweł Marciniak from the Digital Libraries and Knowledge Platforms Department joined the scientific extravaganza aka LUMEN kick-off meeting in Brussels on 20 and 21 January 2025.

The Mind Challenge Program Inauguration

On 16 January 2024 representatives of four universities from Poznań along with PSNC signed a letter of intent to implement an interdisciplinary cooperation program called Mind Challenge. The project will involve the Adam Mickiewicz University, the Medical University, the Poznań University of Technology, the Poznań University of Economics and Business, PSNC and some business partners.

Heriforge Meeting at PSNC

Representatives of 14 organizations involved in the Heriforge project visited the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center on 14 and 15 January 2025. The goal of the project is to provide a research environment for culture, art and national heritage using the technology of extended reality (XR).

SIG-AI Meeting at PSNC

The first meeting of the SIG-AI (Special Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence), operating under the auspices of the GÉANT community, took place in the PSNC headquarters on 11 December 2024. The event provided an opportunity for representatives of NRENs – leading research and education institutions in Europe – to share ideas, experiences and best practices in the field of artificial intelligence.

ECHOES Workshop

ECHOES workshop took place on 12 and 13 December 2024. It was meant to support the users (or even future users) of the Cultural Heritage Cloud. All the participants could take part in various sessions and discussions concerning challenges and possibilities of cultural heritage. ECHOES project representatives together with experts from EUROPEANA and ARIADNE, among others, presented tools and strategies which will be crucial in shaping the future of the cloud.

Modern Trends in Education: STEAM & AI

On 9 December 2024 PSNC headquarters in Poznań hosted the “STEAM & AI – Modern Trends in Education” conference organized as a part of the 2024 edition of the “Active Board” program. The event was organized in cooperation with the Poznań Education Authority. The attendees were mostly principals and teachers from schools across the Wielkopolska region of Poland.

CLAW Meeting: Is the Queen Going to Abdicate?

That was the most important question of this year’s Crisis Management Workshop (CLAW) organized annually for the GÉANT community, which after several editions was moved from Poznań to Barcelona. For two days (3 and 4 December 2024) the participants took part in practical exercises to resolve a crisis in a fictional European country called Guilder. The multimedia materials used during the workshops were prepared by the usual PSNC team.

EOSC EU Node at EUDAT Conference

The EUDAT conference 2024 organised in Karlsruhe (Germany) on 3-5 December 2024 is an international forum on and about DATA. Topics such as EOSC, the Data Spaces, the connection with HPC and handling sensitive data were tackled in dedicated sessions that provide a view of developments on a European level.

Discussing Quantum Technologies at POZITIVE.TECH 2024

POZITIVE.TECH 2024 is an event that brings together IT specialists, digital transformation experts and technology enthusiasts. They meet to exchange knowledge, inspirations and shape the future. This year’s edition took place at CK Zamek in the very heart of Poznań, between 2 and 6 December 2024. One of the participants of this event was a PSNC quantum expert Dr Krzysztof Kurowski.

The Chamber of Memory in Turew

On 5 December 2024, “Organic Workers from Turew. A Virtual Exhibition of Memorabilia Related to the Cradle of Organic Work (Stage 1) – The Chamber of Memory” was officially opened in the Palace of Turew near the city of Kościan in Wielkopolska (42 kilometers south of Poznań). This event marked the completion of the project entitled “Virtual Heritage of the Organic Work Trail: Digitization and Exhibition of Artifacts and the Turew Archive (Stage 1)” implemented by the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry PAS together with PSNC, and co-financed by the Wielkopolska Region Authorities as a part of the program “Organic Work – The Heritage of Wielkopolska”.
