On Tuesday, February 11th this year in the Wielkopolska Voivodship Office during the conference “Children and youth online. Functioning and counteracting threats”, the acts of appointment to the Wielkopolska Team for Child and Youth Safety took place. The appointment was also handed to Dr Cezary Mazurek, Director of PSNC.

On January 31, 2020, a workshop was held at PSNC as part of the DEMETER project. The DEMETER project is a large-scale pilot implementation of interoperable platforms for intelligent farming based on IoT. As part of the project, 20 pilot projects will be implemented in 18 European countries showing the benefits of the use od innovative interoperable solutions.

A three-day meeting (14-16 January 2020) summarizing the Superheroes 4 Science project was held in the Slovak capital, Bratislava. The project, assuming the popularization of broadly understood issues related to HPC among young people, was attended by representatives of four institutions representing the Visegrad Group countries.

On January 15, 2020, the Poznań Cathedral will host a concert of the chamber orchestra co-organized by PSNC under the direction of Yaroslav Shemet on the 100th anniversary of the birth of John Paul II. The event is organized as part of the 23rd Day of Judaism.

During the 1st Scientific Symposium of the Robot Urology Section of the Polish Urological Association (January 10, 2020, Warsaw), the Live Surgery Session will be held, during which – for the first time in Poland – the broadcast will be carried out in 3D technology. PSNC and medVC are the event’s partners.

As part of its international involvement PSNC representatives, on behalf of the GN4-3 project (European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No. 856726), participated in the TechEX 2019 conference in New Orleans, USA, this week. Two topics in the areas of network performance monitoring and automation and orchestration of network services were presented at this global research and education community event.

On December 17, 2019, PSNC will hold a meeting in the Future Lab spaces to establish relationships and exchange experiences between innovators, field experts and investors in the context of Industry 4.0. This will be the first edition of the cyclical event implemented under the domain of the Polish Silicon Valley and under the patronage of Ms Jadwiga Emilewicz – Minister of Development.

To meet the needs of schools, the Wielkopolska School Superintendent in Poznań, together with the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center, will organize educational workshops “School Escape Room” and “Interactive school television” for teachers on 10 and 11 December 2019.

With the support of the Immersify European project, Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC), Spin Digital, and NHK Technologies, the expert in broadcasting technology, information systems and IT for NHK, the public broadcaster in Japan, will demonstrate an 8K live streaming from Poland to Japan.

“Visualizing Big Hierarchical Data with CabinetTee” is the title of the lecture, which Prof. Kang Zhang will present during the PSNC seminar, presenting the latest works on the approach to visualization of large hierarchical data (published recently in the Journal of Big Data).

New technologies of 8K streaming was presented during the Ars Electronica Festival 2019 in Linz, as a demonstration of a remote artists’ live performance between Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (Poznań, Poland) and Deep Space 8K at Ars Electronica (Linz, Austria).

An unusual demonstration of the Turing Bombe operation using methods from the Second World War was presented on September 21, 2018, as part of the World Information Congress (WCC), which was held, for the first time in history, in Poznan, Poland.
