On May 16 we invite to the Lecture Centre of Poznan University of Technology on medical-informatics workshop, “The needs of the patient and the available ICT tools.” The seminar participants will have the opportunity, among others to try the new, fashionable method of rapid prototyping – DESIGN THINKING.

Once again, Poznan will host Poland’s largest international conference on software development – GeeCON. For three days (16-18.05.2012) world-class IT stars will gather in the capital of Wielkopolska Region. Registration using one of the conference paths will be conducted by PLATON project’s scientific HD TV team.

Deadline for submitting applications for participation in the Polish edition of Hack4Europe 2012 has been extended until May 20. The task of participants of the two-day marathon of programming is to create applications based on the resources of the European digital library Europeana. The prize pool in the competition is 18 000 Polish Zloty!

On 13 May 2012, Poznan Supercomputing and Networking organized workshops of 4K and 3D technology for Television Production Study. The workshop was held in a special 4K projection room.

World Cup Finals of Academic Programming Contest (ACM ICPC) will be held from 14 to 18 May at the University of Warsaw. It is the oldest and most prestigious programming competition in the world, in which students take part. 112 teams that won the regional qualications will come to Warsaw. For the purposes of the final, the PIONEER Network NORDUnet compiled two optical 10Gigabit Ethernet channels between Warsaw and Stockholm.

Another “stop” of the Future Internet Conference Week held twice a year, after Poznan (Poland) is Danish Aalborg. The largest meeting of experts in the area of “Future Internet” will be held from 7 to 11 May. Traditionally, the conference is accompanied by an exhibition, during which Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center will present its achievements.

Hack4Europe! is a series of hack days organised by the Europeana Foundation and its partners and provide an exciting environment to explore the potential of open cultural data for social and economic growth in Europe. Conference4me, conference mobile assistant, has been deployed for the first EGI Community Forum 2012 conference. Conference4me is a mobile application, developed by PSNC, that facilitates participation in conferences and exhibitions.It is offered free to conference attendees.

During the largest ICT trade fair in Europe – CeBIT in Hannover (6-10.03.2012) – the new versions of software, hardware and device models were presented. This special IT industry’s celebration was also the venue of many international meetings of major and small companies, distributors, research units and the young artists with their ‘fledgling’ businesses.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Mr. Waldemar Pawlak officially opened the Polish stand at this year’s CeBIT in Hannover. Among the 16 Polish regions, representing the indigenous achievements in the field of ICT, is the City of Poznan, PSNC and Wklaster.

On the 28 February number of objects available via Polish Digital Libraries Federation reached 900 000.

For the third time already PSNC, Wielkopolska ICT Cluster and the City of Poznan will present their achievements at CeBIT in Hannover (6-10.03.2012). It is the largest European event in the field of ICT that will be held under “Managing Trust – trust management” theme.
