A unique opportunity to find the answer to this question will have members of specialized workshop in the StartUp-IT project. Later this year, several authors of the applications will have their applications verified to check whether their security is threatened.

On 8th, 9th and 10th November in Grenoble the second edition of the academic fOSSa conference (Free Open Source Conference Academia) will be held. The three-day meeting will cover issues related to Open Source software as a factor influencing research and stimulating innovation of in-dustry. The conference will be attended by representatives of the PSNC.

During the three-day eChallenges e-2010 Conference Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center presented its achievements. On the last day of the event two projects were presented: Wielkopolska Center of Telemedicine and Virtual Laboratory of Interactive Teaching.

From 1st to 4th November in Atlanta (USA) will take place a meeting of the prestigious Internet2 Consortium, developing and implementing network technologies, primarily using high-speed data transfer. The meeting will be attended by representatives from the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center and PIONIER Consortium.

For three days, from October 26 to 28, representatives of competence centers from around the world discussed on the fifteenth plenary meeting of QualiPSo in Poznan. The meeting was an attempt to summarize the project ending early next year.

On one of the stands are presented services of Platform for e-Science – PLATON, which is one of the largest projects in the PIONIER network.

Public-private partnership in the ICT industry was the theme of the Second ICT Wielkopolska Conference which was held on October 28 in Poznań. Participants of the meeting discussed both the opportunities and obstacles associated with this form of cooperation of ICT business and the public sector the region.

PSNC presented the possibility of real-time streaming video in high-resolution 4K (4096×2160) at a meeting of the GLIF (Global Lambda Integrated Facility) working draft, which took place on 13 and 14 October in Geneva. Thanks to links connected especially for the occasion, based on a GLIF infrastructure, streams of video with a capacity of 250 Mbps performance, aDCI (Digital Cinema Initiative) standards, were sent.

The theme of this year’s conference, as usual, was the creation and development of digital libraries in Poland. This year, however due to the extremely important role of the European Digital Library, Europeana, there was also a special place devoted to this initiative during the meeting. The conference was held from 18th to 22nd October in Poznań.

This year’s International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition was unique in several aspects. Sixteenth edition took place in the year in which we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great Polish composer. A record number of music lovers could keep track of the contest. Live webcast was available on the pages of TVP SA and the National Audiovisual Institute.
