Intel oneAPI workshop at PSNC

Intel oneAPI workshop at PSNC

On November 22 and 23, 2023, a PRACE-LAB2 project training for HPC users was held at the PSNC headquarters. Intel specialists provided knowledge on the capabilities of new tools supporting hybrid processing in systems equipped with hardware accelerators. The workshop was led by Stephen Blair-Chappell – an independent consultant and certified Intel oneAPI instructor.

Attendees at the event had the opportunity to test in action the implementation of oneAPI standards using the new Intel Developer Cloud (IDC) package, which will soon completely replace Intel Parallel Studio. This package is already available on the Altair cluster. The tools supporting the application programming and optimization process are an important aid for the programmer, which was reflected in the presentation of VTune/Advisor capabilities and then in exercises performed in the computing environment.

The main objective of the PRACE-LAB2 project (POIR.04.02.00-00-C003/19), is to provide specialised computer architectures for applications related to problems of big data analytics, applications using elements of artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as quantum computing simulations. In the area of economics, development work is focused on the provision of modern container solutions in the cloud services as well as new services, including HPCaaS (HPC as a Service). The primary goal is to improve the position of the Polish economy on European and global markets by supporting and strengthening the development of innovative solutions in cooperation between the private sector, with particular emphasis on SMEs and the scientific sector.
