New, lighter MCG

New, lighter MCG
The official website of the city of Poznań changed its layout. There is also a new, “lighter” version of the portal targeted at users of mobile phones and other portable devices.

The new portal is the result of work carried out for several months by engineers from the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center, the co-founder and technology partner of the portal, as well as the portal’s editorial office. The new face of Multimedia City Guide can be viewed by selecting the transition to a “beta” site available at www.poznan.pl.

Changes were made not only to the site’s layout, but also the organization of content. The site is also enriched with new topical tabs: self-government, communication and culture. Information and services of these sections were preaviously dispersed in the portal. The service become even more friendly to disabled people. This time it introduced the ability to browse the site in the “high contrast”, with enlarged and modernized font, so that the visually impaired can now better match the display of content to their individual needs. The portal is also integrated with popular social networking websites.

From this year on, the portal is available in two versions, the new, “lighter” version is available for users of mobile phones and mobile devices at m.poznan.pl. Another highlight of the portal is to provide mechanisms for automatic creation of the photo codes, or pictures, you can use to encrypt short information and a web addresses that reference you straight to the source information. After downloading the appropriate application to your mobile phone, just scan the code with your phone, and the content will be displayed on the phone screen or you will be directed directly to the website.

Subsequent changes will be introduced to the Multimedia City Guide in a few weeks. In the meantime, Internet users will be able to submit their comments by e-mails to the address on the front page of a new version of the portal.
