Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center helps refugees from Ukraine

Since 24th of February Poles across the country are helping refugees from Ukraine. After barbaric russian attack, we could not remain indifferent to the fate of people wronged by war. That’s why we have made some of our office spaces available as temporary accommodation places. Currently three ukrainian families founfd shelter in the PSNC building at Zwierzyniecka street. We host 16 people, including 10 children, the youngest of whom is only a few months old… Our friends fled from Odessa and Zhytomyr.

EUHubs4Data project extends the 2nd open call deadline

The EC funded EUHubs4Data project has allocated 5.8M Euros to provide support to third parties to undertake up a set of data driven cross-border experiments through three rounds of open calls. EUH4D has decided to extend the 2nd open call deadline to February 8th to allow all interested applicants enough time to finalise their proposal.

Poznań Has the First Quantum Center in Central and Eastern Europe

PSNC joins the IBM Quantum Network to collectively build the first quantum center in Central and Eastern Europe. As a part of the project, we are planning to collaborate with IBM and Polish scientists to develop innovative quantum computing technologies and work on their practical applications not only for science but also for everyday life. The projects will be carried out in collaboration with other centers of the global IBM Quantum Network ecosystem.

Launch of the ILIAD project

In January 2022, the European Union allocated €17 million to the ILIAD consortium under the Horizon2020 program to develop and launch an innovative Digital Twin of the Ocean (DTO) that will provide highly accurate predictions of future developments at global seas. Demeter project launched its 2nd Open Call

Open Call #2 – DEPLOY aims to deploy high value and impactful pilots which employ demeter methodologies and technologies addressing clear farmers’ needs. Up to €150,000 equity-free funding per consortia is available per successful project. The deadline for submitting the proposals is 16th February 2022.

Review of the INSENSION project

October saw the end of research and development work on the system of interaction support for people with profound complex intellectual disabilities, conducted in the INSENSION project, which was coordinated by PSNC. On Wednesday, December 15, the consortium presented the results of completed activity during a meeting with experts from the European Commission related to the final evaluation of the project. The meeting was held online.

Appointment of Dr. Eng. Norbert Meyer to the PRACE strategic group

In November, by the decision of the PRACE AISBL Steering Committee, the Director of Data Processing Technologies Division, Dr. Eng. Norbert Meyer, was nominated to the PRACE strategic group. This group is defining the directions for the development of advanced computing in Europe as well as the tasks of the PRACE consortium in the context of these goals.
