High performance computing, issues related to modern networks and secure data storage are the areas that will be presented by Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center at ISC High Performance 2022. This year’s edition of the Conference, hosted from May 29 to June 2 at the Hamburg Congress Center, takes place under the motto “Transforming the Future”.

“Until now, this project existed mainly in the minds of the originators and the people who participated in its implementation. However, now we can present it to you. eDWIN is a very large project and an extremely broad one in terms of the scope of its impact and the number of people who have implemented it,” this is how Mariusz Tatka, Director of the Agricultural Advisory Center in Brwinow, Poznan branch, spoke at the opening of the first conference summarising three years of work on the eDWIN advisory platform.

In April this year, the second edition of the INFRAG expert group was established. It is an independent group of experts, operating at EuroHPC, whose task is to define long-term plans for the development of infrastructure for advanced computing (HPC), including the requirements for the data infrastructure and associated services. Director of Data Processing Technologies Division – Norbert Meyer, Ph.D. has been reappointed to the new INFRAG group.

GÉANT honours community members who have made outstanding contributions to collaborative work and the development of services and technologies. The results will be announced on June 13,2022 during the inauguration of this year’s TNC Conference – the largest and most prestigious conference of of European National Research and Education Networks.

Since 24th of February Poles across the country are helping refugees from Ukraine. After barbaric russian attack, we could not remain indifferent to the fate of people wronged by war. That’s why we have made some of our office spaces available as temporary accommodation places. Currently three ukrainian families founfd shelter in the PSNC building at Zwierzyniecka street. We host 16 people, including 10 children, the youngest of whom is only a few months old… Our friends fled from Odessa and Zhytomyr.

SSHOC partners and stakeholders are coming together on 6 and 7 April in Brussels and online for the SSHOC Final Conference titled “Advancing SSH Research with SSHOCingly good and sustainable Resources”. PSNC acts as a Collaborating Organisation and has been developing one of the main results of this project – SSH Open Marketplace.

The EC funded EUHubs4Data project has allocated 5.8M Euros to provide support to third parties to undertake up a set of data driven cross-border experiments through three rounds of open calls. EUH4D has decided to extend the 2nd open call deadline to February 8th to allow all interested applicants enough time to finalise their proposal.

PSNC joins the IBM Quantum Network to collectively build the first quantum center in Central and Eastern Europe. As a part of the project, we are planning to collaborate with IBM and Polish scientists to develop innovative quantum computing technologies and work on their practical applications not only for science but also for everyday life. The projects will be carried out in collaboration with other centers of the global IBM Quantum Network ecosystem.

In January 2022, the European Union allocated €17 million to the ILIAD consortium under the Horizon2020 program to develop and launch an innovative Digital Twin of the Ocean (DTO) that will provide highly accurate predictions of future developments at global seas. PSNC is one of the Partners in the project consortium

Open Call #2 – DEPLOY aims to deploy high value and impactful pilots which employ demeter methodologies and technologies addressing clear farmers’ needs. Up to €150,000 equity-free funding per consortia is available per successful project. The deadline for submitting the proposals is 16th February 2022.

October saw the end of research and development work on the system of interaction support for people with profound complex intellectual disabilities, conducted in the INSENSION project, which was coordinated by PSNC. On Wednesday, December 15, the consortium presented the results of completed activity during a meeting with experts from the European Commission related to the final evaluation of the project. The meeting was held online.
