Traditionally, at the largest Supercomputing (SC20) conference devoted to supercomputing technologies (HPC, High Performance Computing), another TOP500 list was announced – the fastest supercomputers in the world. This list includes a new PSNC supercomputing system – Eagle II (position 85), the successor of Eagle supercomputer purchased in 2015.

PSNC, Poznan University of Technology and Veolia Energia Poznan S.A. will take part in the international project RENergetic (Community-empowered Sustainable Multi-Vector Energy Islands) implemented under the Horizon 2020 program. The aim of the project is to develop and demonstrate innovative tools to manage energy islands.

The results of the 10th competition entitled “Local Government of Equal Opportunities” for the best projects for people with disabilities, implemented by Polish local governments, have been announced. The WINS Incubator for Social Innovation, implemented by the Regional Center of Social Policy in Poznan, the Marshall Office of the Wielkopolska Region, the City of Poznan and PSNC won in the “District/Region” category.

PSNC Innovative Education Laboratory and the National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute invite teachers to online educational workshops about the resources of Polish and European digital repositories and ICT tools enabling the creation of interesting lessons with puzzles. The classes will be conducted by experienced trainers from the PSNC educational laboratory.

The PIONIER-LAB project – National Platform for Integration of Research Infrastructures with Innovation Ecosystems has been notified by the European Commission. This decision marks the start of the full project work. The project will be implemented by 21 partners, and its leader is the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center.

The song by Luxtorpeda band entitled “Hołd” from the latest album “Anno Domino MMXX” was created in memory of the freedom fighters from Wielkopolska Region. The accompanying music video showing many places important for the capital of Wielkopolska was produced by the team from PSNC.

The tenth season of programs popularizing Polish science has started on the scientific platform of Pionier.TV. This series covers all fields and spheres of science – from humanities to natural sciences – presenting them in a simple and accessible way.

During the meeting inaugurating the activity of the first Regional Future Industry Council in Poland, its presidium was elected. Among the members of the Wielkopolska Region Council are entrepreneurs, scientists, and local government officials. The Director of PSNC, dr Cezary Mazurek was appointed to the position of Vice-Chairman.

As part of the PRACE-LAB project, an agreement was signed to build a national infrastructure for parallel computing and data infrastructure. The created infrastructure will provide its services in the national public cloud and private data and processing cloud. PSNC, as a national academic computing center and operator of metropolitan area networks, is one of the project members.

The first version of the SSH system was officially launched on June 30 in a dedicated session at the annual ICTeSSH conference. The graphic design and the server part (backend) of the system were developed to a large extent by PSNC.
