Maciej Brzeźniak from PSNC becomes new chair for TF-Storage

With unanimous support from his peers and the TERENA Technical Committee, Maciej Brzezniak of the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC) has become the new chair of TF-Storage. He will replace Jan Meijer of UNINETT, the Norwegian national research and education network (NREN), who has led the task force since its launch in February 2008.

Earlier this week Europeana updated information about resources from digital libraries connected via the PIONIER DLF. We are happy to announce that the publications number has increased by more than 100 thousand since last update and it counts exactly 462 796 objects.

Polish tests of Europeana

As a part of the EuropeanaLocal project, Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center performed a series of tests of the Europeana portal with its potential end users in Poland. The tests were conducted in January this year.

Internet in every Polish house thanks to the PIONIER network?

The Government has announced that by the end of 2013 there will be Internet connection available in every Polish house. This would be allowed thanks to existing fiber networks owned by different organizations, including Consortium Pionier – informs Polish daily newspaper, Gazeta Wyborcza.

As early as in March this year there will be another PRACE seminar, co-organized by the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center. The meeting in March, 28-29, will be hosted by the City of Stockholm.

ACCESS IT online course to be launched in Turkey

ACCESS IT e-learning courses were developed to facilitate education in the area of digitisation and digital libraries in Greece, Serbia and Turkey. Reference materials developed by PSNC – released in October 2010, were deployed, translated and customized by ACCESS IT partners. We are very pleased to announce that this work has been finished in Turkey.
