In early December in Madrit a meeting initiating a new research project called Wf4Ever was held. It aims at providing the methods and tools required to ensure the long-term storage of scientific workflows in order to support the scientific discovery process and the development of new scientific assets.

„The problem of assuring homeland security as a challenge for Polish UE Presidency in 2011” was the main issue of this year’s Polish Platform for Homeland Security Conference, traditionally hosted in the conference centre of PAS Institute of Mathematics in Będlewo near Poznań. The event was also attended by representatives of the PSNC.

In May, the participants were hosted in Poznan on the second edition of the GeeCON conference. The topics of the conference concerned the Java language and technologies based on Java Virtual Machine. In the capital of Wielkopolska met 450 JAVA fans.

In November two investments in expansion of Polish Optical Internet PIONIER network – a nationwide broadband optical science network – were completed. In the south of the country the construction of new fiber optic line came to an end, and the north has been enriched by a new optical transmission system.

According to e-bUW it is “Nowy Pamiętnik Warszawski: [dziennik historyczny, polityczny, tudzież nauk i umiejętności]”, periodical published in Prussian Warsaw by Franciszek Ksawery Dmochowski.

One of the main aims of the ACCESS IT project is to support digitisation of cultural heritage and development of digital libraries in small memory institutions in three target countries covered by this project. In the second half of October these countries held a series of conferences.

Internet radios acting through a system EMITER, that run in the PIONIER network, are getting more and more popular. Currently, it transmits a signal of more than 50 radio stations, focusing an average of 22,000 recipients at the same time.
