DATAMITE
Data Monetization, Interoperability, Trading & Exchange

DATAMITE project is an initiative of transformation of the European Data Market by assisting users, including small and medium-sized enterprises, large corporations, and public administrations, in optimizing the monetization, governance, and trustworthiness of their data. This will empower these entities to emerge as significant contributors within the data economy.

The primary objective is to be achieved through the development of essential modules, including Data Governance, Quality, Security, Sharing, and Supporting Tools. Interoperability with leading storage technologies is facilitated by leveraging existing open-source components. The community engagement is fostered by offering user-friendly graphical interfaces, comprehensive documentation, and customized training resources that cater to both technical and business needs.

DATAMITE supports monetization opportunities internally and externally. Internally, users are equipped with tools to enhance data quality management, ensure compliance with FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles, and develop skills in both technical and business domains. This results in data that is more trustworthy, thereby bridging the data-decision gap and enhancing reliability in applications such as artificial intelligence.
Externally, empowering users to maintain control over their data opens up new avenues for revenue generation and collaboration with various stakeholders, particularly within ecosystems like the International Data Spaces (IDS), data markets, or the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). Furthermore, the architecture proposed for DATAMITE supports the sandboxing of Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs), positioning them as potential facilitators in onboarding small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and low-tech SMEs into the data economy.

The outcomes will be assessed across 3 use cases, encompassing a total of 6 pilot projects, thereby illustrating the Framework’s interoperability and applicability across various domains. Sectors covered by the pilots are agriculture, energy, industrial and manufacturing, and climate.

The project is being implemented by the consortium of 26 partners from 12 countries with Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center among them. PSNC is responsible for pilots – implementations, and is also carrying out an agricultural pilot together with the Wielkopolska Agricultural Advisory Center and IDFS Ltd.
