MOSAIC 3D (ECBiG)

The aim of the project is to create a unique research infrastructure for obtaining advanced spatial models of biological systems (in vitro-3D) and their digital twins (in silico-3D), and then using these models in translational research on oncological and cardiovascular diseases.

The project plans to purchase research equipment for culture, live analysis and cell biobanking, as well as expand ECBiG’s resources with unique cell lines that will be derived from biological material obtained from patients with selected cardiovascular and oncological diseases. A service platform will also be created to support the development and use of digital twins of cell and tissue models in biomedical research.

The ECBiG-MOSAIC 3D research infrastructure will integrate state-of-the-art technologies that will enable 3D cell culture, spatial analysis of gene expression with cellular and subcellular resolution, and creation of digital twins of biological systems using machine learning algorithms. The tools developed as part of the project will allow multi-level modeling of the development of pathological conditions and the effects of therapies in living cellular systems and their digital counterparts, opening up new opportunities in biomedical research and supporting the development of personalized therapies. Users of the infrastructure created under this project will include both domestic and foreign scientific and research centers, health care units, as well as business entities in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and biomedical industries.

The project is coordinated by the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań.

EU funding for the project: 40,000,000.00 PLN.
