In 2021 PSNC joined E-TASC initiative – funded by EUROfusion consortium. This way, we have joined other instituions serving the role of Advanced Computing Hubs.
Advanced Computing Hubs are the response of EUROfusion for the raising demands of teams working on projects related to plasma physics. This new structure aims at providing access to the knowledge of experts coming from different fields of science. At the moment, there are five different ACHes – each providing knowledge based on the expertise of the institution serving the role of the ACH.
PSNC, as an Advanced Computing Hub focuses on activities that are tightly coupled with the best practices in the area of software engineering, it also provides the infrastructure for software development, and helps people to develop solutions suitable for HPC and Cloud based computations.
For a long time, PSNC was partnered with EUROfusion/ITER during the development of software components used by plasma physicists. We have taken active part in the process of designing and implementing IMAS ecosystem (Integrated Modelling & Analysis Suite). IMAS serves as a base for many codes that are involved in plasma simulations. Thanks to being directly involved in these projects (associated with IMAS) we are able to provide the highest possible support for users porting their codes into IMAS based ecosystem. We are able to analyse users’ code in the context of all the features and limitations of the platform, and to provide the best possible approach.
Within the Advanced Computing Hub framework, PSNC provides the future development of IMAS platform, support for users, integration of the codes within so called workflows (integration of numerous codes within computations). PSNC also provides CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery) platform designed and delivered with state of art approach that can be meet in commercial products. As a very experienced maintainers and providers of the platform we support people not only with the platform itself, but by delivering various workshops as well.
