SEQRET
SEQRET is an EU-funded project under the Digital Europe program, focusing on the development of secure and industrial quantum key distribution (QKD) systems for European telecommunications networks

In today’s telecommunications, cryptography plays a key role in protecting data from unauthorized access and thus keeping critical and even classified information secret. QKD is a paradigm-shifting technology that offers long-term security and data protection. To this end, QKD generates keys that are private to legitimate users and unknown to any attacker, now or in the future. Using these keys with already implemented symmetric cryptography enables a future-proof cryptographic solution.
The goal of the project is to bring QKD to a larger market to secure Europe’s sovereignty in the digital age. To achieve this, the latest scientific advances in telecommunications, high-frequency electronics, photonic integration and digital processing are being used. The project focuses on a special type of QKD based on continuous variables (CV-QKD), which can be realized by using standard coherent telecommunications technology and its quantum lmiits. Using existing telecommunications technology, we can transfer quantum technology from the lab directly to the real world.
