PSNC Seminar: Anna Bazan-Krzywoszańska, PhD Eng., Prof. UZ – “Municipal energy and GIS”
On Monday, January 10, 2022, we invite you to the fourth open PSNC Seminar. The speaker will be Anna Bazan-Krzywoszańska, PhD, Professor of the University of Zielona Gora, who will present the topic “Municipal energy and GIS”. The co-authors of the paper are Maria Mrówczyńska, PhD Eng., Prof. of the University and Marta Skiba, PhD Eng. arch. Marta Skiba, Prof. UZ. Below we present the biographies of the speaker and co-authors.

The event is organised as part of PSNC’s open seminar series entitled “Challenges for the IT infrastructure of science in the era of digital transformation”.

The moderator of the seminar will be PSNC Director – Cezary Mazurek, PhD.

The subject of the speech will be the presentation of the results of the work at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Engineering as well as the University of Zielona Gora Laboratory of Geospatial Analyzes in the field of extending knowledge about the city in the field of energy models. This task focuses on the demostration of activities that affect the increase in energy efficiency in construction and the use of renewable energy sources in order to reduce the operating costs of buildings on a city scale. These activities are a continuation of several years of work and experience related to urban models and sustainable development policy, but also the impact on the effectiveness of decisions made by local government units in relation to spatial policy and spatial development policy.

We invite you to a meeting that will start on 10.01.2022 at 14:30 in a hybrid form on the Webex platform.

Anna Bazan-Krzywoszańska, PhD Eng., Prof. UZ

Former Head of the Spatial Planning Office of the City Development Department of Zielona Góra city.

Specializes in issues related to :
– supporting decision-making processes in spatial planning using hybrid models, combining 3D/4D with analysis with the use of artificial intelligence,
– sustainable development, including energy efficiency and spatial policy of cities, and possibilities of shaping space at the municipality level by means of the provisions of planning documents.

The main topics conducted in the scientific studies are:

1) analysis of the provisions of municipal planning documents in terms of cultural landscape protection and energy saving, as well as the effects of its implementation in space,
2) urban development policy in the context of EU requirements for energy efficiency,
3) development and management of urban space; revitalisation, modernisation, reconstruction of degraded urban areas,
4) problems of green areas protection in planning documents,
5) mathematical models as a tool for supporting spatial policy;

Marta Skiba, PhD, Eng., Arch., Prof. UZ

Architect and research and teaching staff member of the University of Zielona Gora with 25 years of experience. Director of the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning at the the University of Zielona Gora.

Current interests:

– drawing up an action strategy for energy policy in cities in particular spatial areas taking into account local conditions for cities;
– creation of a method for analysing energy consumption in the city on the basis of map data and documents to implement EU directives and sustainable solutions and promote RES (renewable energy sources) in residential buildings into Polish legislation, taking into account the self-governance of municipalities;
– analysis of primary and final energy consumption in the context of technical, technological and functional solutions of buildings;
– use of participatory mapping tool applied as methods and techniques combining cartography (understood as transferring information relating to space onto maps) with social research methods (in-depth interviews, surveys) or techniques facilitating inclusion of local stakeholders into decision-making processes (social participation);
– inference based on vague criteria, understood as classification using multiple “if-then” rules to represent human knowledge, including linguistic terms. The presence of less relevant or highly correlated features often reduces the accuracy of classification, and feature selection, in which most informative variables are selected for model generation, is an important step in data-driven modelling.

Graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, Wroclaw University of Technology in 1995: Postgraduate studies: Landscape Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning at Wrocław University of Technology, and an acasemic degree – PhD in 2004. Degree of PhD of Technical Sciences obtained at the Faculty of Architecture, Krakow University of Technology in 2019.
