The football team of KKS Lech Poznań established cooperation with the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center. This is another stage of enriching the tools of the club’s scientific department.
PSNC has been operating for 28 years, providing access to e-Infrastructure for the scientific community at the highest level. PSNC is an internationally known node of the European Research Area as it implements research and development projects in cooperation with over a thousand partners from around the world. An important element of the Center’s activities are pioneering projects of developing models, prototypes or large-scale pilot projects, among others in the field of advanced visualization, BigData analysis and artificial intelligence. PSNC deals with the development of information and communication technologies supporting the digital transformation of science, economy and society. The multi-domain list of areas of activity undertaken at the Center is the result of the continuation of the idea of searching for ICT-inspired innovations, the effect of which result in complete implementations. The Center in Poznan is affiliated with the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
At the beginning of October Lech Poznan created its own research department and now the club can also benefit from the activity of PSNC. The coordinator of this project on behalf of the club has no doubts that cooperation with this research unit will enrich Kolejorz with innovative tools. – The Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center is a pioneer on the e-Infrastructure market. We promise ourselves a lot from this trilateral agreement, because it will also include the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, which will allow us to estalish individual research groups. One of the main ideas of our research department was close cooperation with entities from the region. The joy of signing the contract with PSNC is therefore double from our perspective – says Bartlomiej Grzelak.
However, this is not the end of the benefits that Lech will gain thanks to the cooperation with PSNC. The assumption is to improve the work of the club’s departments not directly related to sport. – Thanks to the interdisciplinary support, we hope that in further stages the cooperation with PSNC will also cover other departments of the club. These include access to the key scientific publications, as well as data processing in various areas. We believe that in the first place also trade, marketing and financial departments will benefit from this cooperation – adds the Head of the Scientific Department.
– Cooperation with Lech Poznan club gives us the opportunity to develop and implement our own products related to data processing and visualization, which find their practical application in professional sport. It is also a potential for us to implement new projects, taking up the challenges of applying new machine learning technologies and big data processing – emphasizes Cezary Mazurek, the Director of PSNC.
As part of the Agreement, the Parties declare their willingness to cooperate in research and development, as well as analytical, technological and promotional activities in the field of ICT applications as well as IT infrastructure to support the digital transformation of sport and youth education.
