Quantum Computing in Brain Research

Quantum Computing in Brain Research

The enormous potential of quantum technologies that can be used in an interdisciplinary science dealing with the study of the nervous system called neuroscience was the topic of a one-day training (17 March 2025), held at the headquarters of the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center.

The event was a part of the “Development of Digital Competences in the Field of Quantum Engineering” project, funded by the Ministry of Digital Affairs.

The meeting was divided into three parts:

  • Introduction to quantum computing – the basics of the technology and its application in neuroscience
  • Group workshops – participants developed scenarios for the use of quantum computing in brain research and medicine.
  • Summary and presentation of ideas – highlighting key directions of development and ways to implement quantum technologies in neuroscience

Participants of the training discussed also the possibility of including quantum computing in master’s degree programs for students of neurobiology, medical chemistry or biotechnology.
