Report from the Field Days 2023: PSNC booth and opening of the European Testing and Experimentation Facilities for Agrifood Innovation – AgriFoodTEF

On June 3, 2023, on the first day of the National Field Days organized in Sielinek, the European Testing and Experimentation Facilities for Agrifood Innovation – AgriFoodTEF, whose partners are the Łukasiewicz PIT Research Network, PSNC and the Wielkopolska Agricultural Advisory Center, was officially opened in the Innovation Zone. During the event, PSNC also presented the results of projects related to agriculture.

The Innovation Zone is a specially prepared space where visitors can look at demonstrations of state-of-the-art tools used in agriculture. The Zone included the official opening of the European Testing and Experimentation Facilities for Agrifood Innovation – AgriFoodTEF, whose partners are the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Poznan Institute of Technology, PSNC and the Wielkopolska Agricultural Advisory Center in Poznan. The official opening was made by the European Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Robert Telus, the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Ryszard Bartosik, the Minister for European Union Affairs Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk and the Voivode of Wielkopolska Region Michał Zieliński. The AgriFoodTEF project was represented by Łukasz Łowiński – chief specialist in the Support and Project Acquisition Department of the Łukasiewicz Research Network, Jacek Sommerfeld – Director of WODR, and Maciej Zacharczuk – Head of WODR’s ICT Department, as well as Marcin Płóciennik, Head of PSNC’s Internet of Things Department.

The Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center marked its presence in the Innovation Zone, presenting the results of projects related to agriculture, such as: Demeter, Datamite, AI4EOSC, ScaleAGData, ICOS, AgriFoodTEF, AgriDataSpace, Stargate, AD4GD and initiatives carried out in collaboration with companies such as EOSC DIH and EuHubs4Data. In addition, examples of the use of robots and drones were demonstrated, as well as an application supporting farmers in farm management.

As part of the Zone, lectures, debates and demonstrations in the field of precision farming were also held with the participation of representatives from PSNC:

– workshop on artificial intelligence in agriculture,
– debate on precision agriculture and drones in agriculture,
– workshop on data sharing in agriculture,
– demonstrations of agricultural procedures performed with drones.

The PSNC booth was visited by Janusz Wojciechowski, the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Robert Telus, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
