A brand new TOP500 list revealing the fastest supercomputers in the world was released during this year’s Supercomputing in Atlanta (17–22.11.2024). The list includes computing systems from PRACE-LAB and PRACE-LAB2 projects, which are key Polish high efficiency computing infrastructures. These two TOP500 entries confirm Poland’s strong position on the global arena of computing development.
During the Supercomputing 2024 conference in Atlanta (USA), the new annual IO500 list has been announced – ranking the current world’s fastest data storage systems. The PSNC data storage system for the Proxima cluster charts at #10 on the 10 Node Production List. Previously, the PSNC system for the Altair cluster charted in this category in June 2024. The new system is a custom configuration developed at PSNC by the Data Management Technology Department in the Data Processing Technology Division of the Poznań Center. It utilizes the infrastructure acquired and built as part of the National Data Repository (KMD) project.
During the SC Conference had a demonstration uses two quantum-classical testbeds in PSNC, Poznan, Poland and the SC24 venue in Atlanta, USA.
These informal meetings between EuroHPC JU and the communications teams of the 6 hosting entities from Czechia, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain aim to facilitate information exchange, share best practices, and strengthen communication synergies. The last session, which we had the pleasure of participating in, focused on presenting the common EuroHPC communication strategy and preparing for the implementation of milestones and upcoming events.
On Monday, our colleague and expert in quantum technologies, Piotr Rydlichowski, took part in a workshop on Innovating the Network for Data Intensive Science (#INDIS) and highlighted the advancements in high-speed networking of this year SC24’s Network Research Exhibition (#NRE – Network Research Exhibitions) powered by SCinet.
In a groundbreaking project, Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC) in Poland has worked with NVIDIA and ORCA Computing to demonstrate the world’s first hybrid computing architecture at PSNC involving a multi-user HPC environment supporting multiple quantum processing units (QPUs), alongside multi-GPU and multi-CPU job execution. PSNC researchers have also trained a hybrid classical-quantum machine learning algorithm within this environment. This work is a first step toward demonstrating the importance of integrating QPUs into hybrid classical-quantum supercomputing environments.
During the SC24 – The International Conference for High Performance Computing, our experts will be happy to tell you about the projects that we have been implementing for over 30 years, both for research institutions, scientific communities and business.
Visit our booth number 1149 to learn more about our research and development center. Maybe this will be the first step to start cooperation with us? See, who you can meet and talk to during SC24.
This year’s SC24 – The International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage, and Analysis will take place in Atlanta, USA from 17-22 November 2024. The Georgia World Congress Center, one of the largest convention centres in the world, will be the venue for meetings, talks and inspiring presentations at the conference and the accompanying exhibition.
PIONIER Consortium
PIONIER Consortium was established in 2003 and includes the PIONIER fiber optic network, which is one of the most modern in the world. It is a key component of the IT infrastructure of science in Poland and is part of the European Research Area.
IT infrastructure, including access to high-power computing, is a condition of development for many fields of science. Since the beginning of its existence, PIONIER is an active partner of scientific teams from many fields of activity.
PIONIER network is evolving towards terabit bandwidths, offering services to support digital innovation.
