Supercomputing Frontiers Europe 2021 – 7th edition of the international conference

The 7th edition of the Supercomputing Frontiers Europe 2021 international conference focused on HPC (High Performance Computing) took place on 19 – 23 July 2021. During five days of the conference, participants had the opportunity to listen to presentations and lectures by world-renowned scientists, entrepreneurs and specialists in HPC, AI and quantum computing within 15 thematic blocks.

During this important event, Maciej Brzeźniak, Manager of the Data Management Technologies Department, presented the assumptions of a new project – the National Data Warehouse (in polish: KMD project). Topics of the presentation included the architecture of data processing and storage, the use of DATA LAKE technology and the role of the project in data-driven sciences with the indication of the most important examples of research problems where the KMD project will be applied. The publication by Maciej Brzeźniak and Norbert Meyer, presenting development work in the area of KMD – services in the data cloud, edge processing and analytics of large amounts of data with the use of AI, was also submitted to the conference programme.

What is more, Bartosz Bosak, Piotr Kopta, Tomasz Piontek and Wojciech Szeliga from PSNC conducted a workshop entitled: Overcome limitations of scheduling systems with QCG-PilotJob, introducing the principles and practical use of QCG-PilotJob.

Second Wave of AI Factories Proposals Selected to Drive EU Innovation

The European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC) has selected six new proposals, in addition to the previous seven, to establish AI Factories in the EU. Overall, the initiative will bring together twenty-one Member States and two associated EuroHPC Participating States.
GN5-1 Project Trainings Concerning Optical Time and Frequency Networks

A Polish limited company nazwa.pl gave away their annual awards to companies and institutions with a significant influence on the digital transformation of the Polish State. The Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center was awarded in the category “Investment Expert”, which was a reflexion of PSNC’s success with the Center’s very own Proxima supercomputer – recognized as one of the fastest machines in the world according to the current prestigious TOP500 list.
GN5-2 Project Presentation at FOSDEM 2025

8 000 participants and over 1 000 lectures – that is how we can sum up the FOSDEM meeting, which took place in Brussels on February 1st and 2nd. During this annual event for open-source software enthusiasts, its participants could share information about the latest initiatives, projects, technologies and applications. It was also a very good occasion to present the GN5-2 project, which was realized in cooperation with PSNC.

One of our country’s responsibilities for the first half of this year will be ensuring open, professional and reliable communication. EmpowerHer – a New Project for Women

EmpowerHer is the name of an innovative program designed for breast cancer survivors, who are encouraged to participate in it during their recovery. Its primary goal is to promote physical activity and social support, so it provides various tools and strategies that are very useful in improving the quality of EmpowerHer participants’ lives. Part of the program is a user-friendly mobile app, which gives women access to personalized exercise routines tailored to their individual needs and abilities.

GN5-2 Project: nmaas Meeting at PSNC

Representatives of NRENs from Macedonia, Moldova, France, Greece, Croatia and PSNC – collectively known as the nmaas team got together to discuss further development of the GN5-2 project. The meeting took place at CBPIO (PSNC headquarters in Poznań) on 20 and 21 February 2025. The topics discussed included: software development, implementation of new functionalities, analysis of current and potential new cases of system use and expanding the nmaas service for GÉANT community users.
3D Technology for Cultural Heritage

The event took place on 5 and 6 February and was supported by both the Polish Innovation Department of the Ministry of National Defense and the Kraków NATO DIANA Accelerator. PSNC at the GRAPHIA Kick-off Meeting in Brussels
